This danish does not disappoint! It was so delicious and beautiful! This is a culinary creation that makes you feel like a baker. You seriously step back and say I made that! It is impressive.

I paired this with a barry smoothie and had a complete breakfast that was such a treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Puff pastry
  • 1 8 oz Cream cheese
  • juice of one lemon
  • Cranberry sauce
  • 1 egg for egg wash on top
  • 1/4 — 1/2 cup sugar

For the cranberry sauce to make it from scratch is so worth it! You get a bag of cranberries from the produce section of the grocery store and just follow the instructions on the bag.

I usually stock up and buy a couple of extra bags and just toss them in the freezer because I can only find fresh cranberries around Thanksgiving. I don’t know why.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Anyway, whip the cream cheese, sugar, and lemon juice together.

On a floured surface roll out your puff pastry to the size of your cookie sheet.

Put your dough on a sheet of wax paper.

Put cream cheese mixture down the center third of your pastry.

Top cream cheese mixture with cranberry sauce.

Then slice both sides into strips at a slight angle and then fold the strips overlapping down on alternating sides.

Make sure you braid your strips down in the same direction as you cut them. In other words, don’t cut them down and braid them up.

Then egg wash the top of your danish!

Transfer to a cookie sheet by pulling your wax paper over onto the cookie sheet. Bake with the wax paper still in place.

Music is an art and so is baking. Sometimes you need to express yourself through other means. And sometimes it is beautiful.
